Dr. Charles Anthony Reyes

Education

  • Attended John B. Alexander High School.
  • Student in the Health and Science Magnet program.
  • Graduated as Valedictorian in the class of 2007.
  • Senior year he was chosen by Border Patrol as Laredo’s Youth of the Year.
  • 2010 he graduated from University of Texas at Austin receiving a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry.
  • 2011 returned to Laredo to study Biological Sciences at TAMIU.
  • 2012 attended dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
  • 2016 graduated from UT Health San Antonio and moved back to Laredo to practice dentistry.

Experience

  • 2005 – 2006 during high school shadowed Dr. Dick Davenport
  • 2006 – 2012 worked part time with Dr. George Garcia
  • 2012 – 2016 Dr. Charles Anthony Reyes participated in multiple mission trips and rotated through various dental clinics to provide dental care to the members of our community in Laredo.

When Dr. Charles Anthony Reyes isn’t practicing dentistry he enjoys spending time with his wife Sofia, their three dogs, their fluffle family (bunnies) and pet turtle. He enjoys being with his family and in-laws. As well cycling, mountain biking, traveling and watching movies.

Education

  • Attended John B. Alexander High School.
  • Student of the John B. Alexander Health Science Magnet program.
  • Graduated 3/649 for class of 2015 and was ranked 2nd in the class of 2015 Health Science Magnet program students.
  • Served as the cofounder and secretary of John B. Alexander High School’s first Dental Club.
  • Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA from Texas A&M International University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
  • Served as event coordinator/risk manager and president of the TAMIU Pre-Dental Society.
  • Began dental school at UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry in 2019 and will graduate in May 2023.
  • Served as the vice president and president for the Hispanic Student Dental Association (2021—present), vice president for the Pediatric Dental Society (2021—2022), and as a member of the American Student Dental Association (2019—present).

Experience

  • Shadowed Dr. Rolando A. Guerra, Dr. Jovannelly Zaragoza, Dr. Berenisse Mares, Dr. Matthew D. Davenport, and her own husband, Dr. Charles A. Reyes throughout her undergraduate education.
  • Participated in the Learning Enhancement for Achievement in Dentistry program during both her undergraduate and dental school education for a total of seven summers. During her participation while in dental school, she served as a student dentist for the Laredo Mercy Ministries and for the City of Laredo Public Health Department.
  • Participated in community service events, as a member of various organizations, to provide free dental screenings to the community of San Antonio.

Mission

  • To promote the importance of oral health, in conjunction with general health, as an integral part of preventive dentistry.
  • To provide her community of Laredo and its surrounding areas with highest standard of care and patient education.
  • To continue learning about new practices, materials, techniques and technology in order to always provide current and dynamic methods of care.
  • To build meaningful and long-lasting relationships with our patient family.

In her spare time, future Dr. Sofia Jimena Reyes enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and zoo of pets (two Dobermans, one giant schnauzer, two Holland lop bunnies, one standard chinchilla mix bunny, and one African spurred tortoise). She enjoys listening to music and going for long runs. She is also a film enthusiast and loves going to the movies with her husband and family. Some of her other interests include anything artistic (drawing, make up, interior design) and trying new foods.
